Exercise #3

Try Not to Breathe

The review is really interesting and actually makes me want to read the book. It this that is something a book review should do, not only tell whether the author did a good job but really tell what the book is about. Some people don't care whether others think it's a good book so what really draws them in is the plot.

The Disenchantments

This review does a good job at introducing main character and overall plot of the story. Both things good to be included in a review. It also includes some of the catcher words that drew me to the first one.

Tina's Mouth: An Existential Comic Diary

The review of this book included what i thought good in the other two as well as more. I was drawn to the review maybe from the title. Including comic diary, and the review does a great job of capturing that comic relief as well.

1.)Brief background

2.)Attention catcher

3.)Portraying the mood of the story

weaknesses Exercise 2

(2)"Grey and tall and stocky as the granite outcrop their town was built upon" are the inhabitants described in an unvarnished plain-dealing diction.

(6) His excitement and enjoyment can be shown when “the time came closer and he slapped his face forcefully, bringing the adrenaline roses up on his cheeks...”

(2) "Who can't even CONCENTRATE TO WRITE this because her little sister will NOT shut up," announces the narrator illustrating the harsh reality to her life.
