A new beginning

This week I started reading Lord of the flies. I heard it's really good and easy to get into so hopefully i will like it. I'm not that far yet and so far it seems a little slow but a lot of books do in the beginning. So far the boys have come together and realized their situation and designated a chief. The Chief is Ralph which kinda upsets piggy because told Ralph everything he need to know about the conch shell. I can tell the boys are started to get a little clicky and the choir boys are not gonna leave Jacks side. On another note, we finished A Tale of Two Cities finally. I am so glad that is over. Now I can concentrate on the this new book and get in some more reading like finishing Catching Fire.

Starting Fresh

A while ago I was reading the book Match Made in Heaven and I kind of just forgot about it from being so busy. I started reading where I had left off which was maybe a fourth into the book and I already forget what was going on. I've decided to start over so I can connect the entire book. So my page numbers are a little messed up for this week because I kind of skipped around to get caught up before I decided to start over. Basically the book is about this guy that is in heaven and he is challenged by God to play a round of golf for a chance to return to earth. Obviously im not very far so I dont know how it turns out but I guess I'll find out!

Match Made in Heaven: 29-35, 16-28

Now I will be starting over from the beginning.

falling behind

I've been really out of the reading mood lately. I need to get back into it. I really haven't done much random reading which I used to like to do pretty well.I have although continued reading A Tale of Two Cities. I guess it is getting more into the type of story that I like but I still cant seem to get into it. I am looking forward to finishing this book so I can start the next one. Next we will be reading Lord of the flies and I am determined to get into that book. I have heard it is pretty good and most people seem to like it, also its pretty thin so it shouldn't take up much time. Anyways, in A Tale of Two Cities there has been a lot of characters introduced lately. It is getting kind of hard to tell them apart. My favorite character is Lucie, Dr. Manette's daughter. I hope she stays a main part of the story. Well hopefully I will get back into reading some more this week!

Note 4

Lovers Nightmare, my all time favorite poem I have come across while doing this project. It is so down to earth and connects with me so well. I have felt myself at times experiencing the same thing as the author. The poems talks about having a dream about a boyfriend and then suddenly you wake up and realize he's not really there. It goes through different tones as it starts out peaceful and calm and turns sorrowful, but overall ending in complete bliss.
And suddenly it hits me,
Like a car going sixty,
I sit there and smile for the longest time,
Dreams aren't real and I know your mine.

The last four lines of the poem explain the concluding happiness as the author realize life is better than a dream. The poem uses great rhyming as every two lines correspond. It also does a great job capturing emotion, i even got a little teary when it talked about him not being there. It is easy to experience what the author is feeling with her use of diction. She seems to be so attached to the person whom she is dreaming about that even the unconscious thought of losing him brings her to tears.

Totally Lost

Soo i am currently reading a tale of two cities. I hate it. I in no way enjoy reading this book. Also, I don't exactly know what is going on in it. As I've mentioned before i do not like reading books for school. Basically what i have got out of it that a guy, Mr. Cruncher I think, digs up a Doctor Manette. Oh and Doctor Manette has a daughter i think, Lucie. It is really confusing, i don't know if I'm just not reading it right or what but I am super lost. I hope I can find a way to better understand the diction and plot of this book so I don't end up completely lost.

Note 2

In this clip from the recent movie, "The Vow" we get a close look at what the couple’s relationship actually was before the accident. During the movie, a madly in love, recently married couple gets in a car accident and the women lose all memory of ever even meeting her husband. Throughout the movie we get insights of both characters point of views. The husband of course is angry, sad, depresses, all of the emotions that would apply to anyone in his situation. Here he in his perfectly happy little life and gets disrupted by his wife forgetting who he is. But then the wife, well she surrounded in a pool of different emotions completely contrasting with those of her husband. She experiences confusion, fear, regret, and yes some joy as she is able to live in her old life again. It is very clear to see the love the main character (Channing Tatum) has for his wife, played by Rachel Mcadams, bases on how hard he tries to win her back. He has to do the unthinkable; make his wife refall in love with him. His actions throughout the movie really allow us to see his dedication and commitment, as well as resulting in the reunitment of the two. It’s not everday we see a relationship like this so it’s important to really study and take analysis of the situation and we can begin to understand this crazy thing called love.

Note 3 anthology proj.

After thinking about my topic (love) for a while, i decided the most interesting expression of love to me was a song. In this Taylor swift song "Love Story", she expresses her feelings throughout the years for a guy. She starts off explaining how she’s known him since they were young. She even remembers the first time she saw him. She goes on to discuss their accounts overtime. She compares their relationship to that of Romeo and Juliet, the theme of forbidden love is paralleled here. It makes the listener wonder; will it ever work out? The last part of the song ends up working out for them, and the song is able to change moods several times through to lyrics. Starting out with excitement and happiness when she first meets and transforming into sorrow and regret that things aren’t working out, and finally ending in overall joy and happiness. This might have been a version of something that actually happened to the author or maybe just something she wishes would have happened. Readers, Listeners, viewers, etc. can never really know the meaning of a piece but we can begin to analyze our own understanding of the work.
